Tony Carnerie, M.A. TESOL

Tony began his interest in ESL education while majoring in Linguistics at San Diego State University . After earning his Bachelor's degree in 1996, he began teaching at various private and public universities in San Diego before attaining a Master's degree in TESOL from United States International University in 1997. After receiving his Graduate degree, he was hired full time as an ESL instructor and later worked as a Program Coordinator. In addition to teaching ESL for the English Language Institute, Tony is also a Teacher Trainer at Extension. He believes that teaching in a relaxed classroom atmosphere and integrating American culture and history are essential components for a complete education in ESL. Most recently, Tony has revised, coordinated and helped to implement the new Internet-based TOEFL program at the English Language Institute. When not working, he likes spending time with his family and exercising.
