HR Exchange is a network of individuals and organizations dedicated to improving business results and the employment relationship through the application of strategic HR management practices. Regular meetings, events and web-based resources provide education and information to HR professionals and other business leaders. HR Exchange is sponsored by UCSD Extension.

Mission and Vision

HR Exchange serves San Diego's high-tech and biotech community, including the organizations that support the technology business sector, with HR management education, information sharing and networking. We believe that, by building engaging work environments, we can help companies succeed and contribute to the economic health of our community.

HR Exchange helps companies grow by building the role of the HR department as a strategic business partner. HR Exchange helps people grow by providing them with meaningful information and educational experiences. By design, our events and programs are interactive. We know that smart professionals are self-directed learners and we create opportunities for them to seek and find the information and insights that fit their own unique learning agendas.

Programs and Events

• HR Leadership Program - once a year in the Fall, a small group of HR directors are given the opportunity to participate in 13 weekly professional development sessions, culminating with an HR strategic plan for their organizations, a personal/professional development plan for themselves, and an invaluable network of new contacts and resources.  Applications are currently being accepted for Fall 2008!
  
• HR LearnAbouts - these one-day bus trips are the ultimate in experiential learning. Participants visit three local companies for an in-depth look at how each handles a particular issue. Next LearnAbout is Thursday, March 27. Enroll now!

• HR Management Certificate Program - acknowledged as San Diego's premier HR certificate, this program prepares individuals to be effective HR generalists. Enrollment is open for Spring Quarter classes on the UCSD Extension website.

• HR Connect Breakfast Meetings - these quarterly meetings focus on emerging trends, topics and tools. Experts set the stage, provoking interest and providing new information, then facilitated table discussions give participants a chance to delve more deeply into the topic. Next session will be held April 9. Enroll now!
  
• Careers in Human Resources - these information sessions are held before spring and fall quarters to provide students with insights from local senior HR executives on the skills needed as an HR professional and to explore opportunities in the San Diego region. Next event will be held March 26, 6:00 - 9:00pm!

Participation

HR Exchange programs and events are open to all. Students and alumni of UCSD Extension's HR Leadership and HR Management Certificate programs are eligible for price discounts.
